Schedule, Location and Fees

September, 2017: I will be re-opening a Wednesday evening practice at a new location at Suite 211, 5005 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, T2S 2T6 (Britannia Bodyworks).  Please book via my email contact or phone number (403) 903-7946.

I will make every effort to respond within 24 hrs on business days; I may not be able to return calls or messages on weekends. The Distress Centre Phone number may be reached at: (403)266-HELP. Please note that, due to the part time nature of my hours, supportive or crisis contact in between sessions is not possible. I am open to discussing any concerns you may have about this in person.

My fees are $140/hr  by cash, personal cheque, or E-transfer. I will provide you with a receipt for your payment.

Receipts may be submitted to a private insurance or benefits bank (depending on the specific terms of the policy); sessions are not necessarily covered and are not covered by Alberta Health Care.

The Canadian OT association website encourages clients to write letters that ask employers or insurance companies to improve coverage for Occupational Therapy services.  If you wish my services to be more accessible to people like yourself in future, feel free to do so.

Breath-work

Last week I saw a video of a therapist reviewing and teaching a type of breath-work that involved a person pushing breath out strongly by pinching in their abdominal muscles. The instructions also involved acting as if one is blowing out a candle that is about arms length away. She suggested to re-seed one’s breath and reset an upset system by attempting to blow out this imaginary candle about 10 times, before your body may allow you to move into deeper, intentional breathing. It was a good video, but I should have noted its location (URL) at the time.

However, this simple list from “The Utopian Life” also appears to be quite good. If you have success with it, feel free to email me with what you notice. (I’m getting no payment for mentioning them. Check out their site if you wish).
